As a young adult, I lacked direction and focus. For a while, I spent my days sitting in a friend’s barber shop. One day I listened to a personal development program that challenged me to think differently about myself, and what was possible for me. I was 29, divorced, and raising a child alone. Wanting a better life for myself and my daughter, I entered the University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in psychology. As far as my family knows, that made me the first college graduate in our family. A few years later, I earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Pepperdine University.

By the time the opportunity to join the John Maxwell team came along, I’d devoted more than 20 years pouring my passion into education—challenging students in one of the nation’s largest school districts to envision a bigger future for themselves, mentoring new teachers, facilitating staff development, designing curriculum, and coaching colleagues. Again and again, I witnessed the lives of those whom I served change as a result of their commitment to intentional growth.

That passion for helping others unlock their potential is what led me to join the John Maxwell Team. I saw an opportunity to live out my life’s mission on a larger scale while also continuing my own journey as a life-long learner.
